Quilt Exhibits, Programs & Workshops
for Children/Adults + Genealogy & Writing
Pre-Approved for Oklahoma Humanities Council Quick Grants

  1. Civil War Quilt Trunk Show Program: To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Judy displays 20-30 1860’s and earlier quilts with vintage photos and shares their entertaining stories with Oklahoma connections. She explores the truth or myth behind the Underground Railroad Quilts and shows Home of the Brave Memorial Quilts that are presented to families of our current fallen soldiers that are replicas of the Civil War bedroll quilts issued to each soldier. ($250+ mileage. 30-120 minutes)
  2. Centennial Stitches—Oklahoma History in Quilts Trunk Show Program: In this hands-on quilt show and amusing story-telling session, Judy displays 20-30 Oklahoma Historic quilts. Included are Murrah Memorial, contemporary art and antique quilts appraised for $5000 to $17,500 dating back to 1834 with vintage photos featured in her books. (30-120 minutes $250 + mileage from NW Oklahoma City)
  3. Quilted Love Letters for America--Thanking Our Troops Quilt Trunk Show Program: In this program designed to honor our military and veterans’ families, Judy entertains with stories of heroism and sacrificial love of God and Country from her new book Thanking Our Troops—God Bless America Touring Quilts. Judy displays 30-60 of the 300 quilts submitted by adults across the nation in her contest “How Do I Love America—Let Me Quilt the Ways.” These little quilts have cheered troops in Baghdad and have brought rave reviews from prestigious quilt shows like AQS and HMQS and are crisscrossing the U.S. to blanket America with the Fabric of Hope to unify our torn nation by returning to our founding fathers’ values. $100 Exhibit is free when you schedule $250 quilt trunk show program. Judy also displays historic quilts from the Civil War, WWI and WWII and tells their stories. Volume book discounts available for fund-raising. (30-120 minutes)
  4. Oklahoma Pioneer 1905 Cookbook Trunk Show Program and Exhibit: In this historic quilt and apron trunk show program designed to honor our mothers, Judy entertains with stories of our courageous pioneers from her new book, 1905 Cookbook--Food for Body and Soul. Judy displays 60 of her food themed touring quilts, vintage apron collection and 20 historic quilts. $100 exhibit is free when you schedule the $250 program. Books are available for fund-raising. All profits go to feed needy children through local churches, orphanages, homeless shelters, etc. (30-120 minutes)
  5. Adults’ or Children’s Quilted Scrapbooking—Digging Up and Preserving Our Ancestor’s Roots. In this hands-on workshop, participants will bring photos of their ancestors printed on computer printer fabric and Grandmother’s costume jewelry, hankies, lace, etc. to attach to a quilted background provided by Judy, and complete a quilted heirloom scrapbook to preserve their ancestor’s memories and roots.
  6. Children’s or Adults’ Quilted Diary-Making Workshop—Digging Into the Past: In this hand-on workshop, children will learn creative writing, sewing, quilting and art skills as they make their own quilted diary of their favorite vacation, pet, friend, sport, food, etc by painting a picture on fabric and then writing the story in echo style around the picture. (one hour to two hours for 3rd graders through college)
  7. Children’s Quilt-Making Workshop: In this hands-on workshop, children will learn creative writing, sewing, quilting and art skills as they create 22x22” food related quilts to tour the nation for three years in the “Food for Body and Soul” exhibit. $2500 in prizes and rosette ribbons for winners. (one to two hours for 3rd graders through college)
  8. "God Bless America Touring Quilts" Exhibit: You will receive 40-60 or more 22"x22" and larger patriotic quilts. Easy to display with a 4" sleeve on back to run a rod through and also 4 loops at top through which to pin into the wall or onto draped racks. Please indicate how many quilts you have space to hang and whether you'd like the focus to be Patriotic, Military, Biblically inspired, or a mix of all. (Rental is $100+ shipping)
  9. “Food for Body and Soul Touring Quilts” Exhibit: You will receive 40-60 or more 22"x22" and larger quilts. Easy to display with a 4" sleeve on back to run a rod through and also 4 loops at top through which to pin into the wall or onto draped racks. Please indicate how many quilts you have space to hang. (Rental is $100+ shipping for set up and display Thursday through Sunday for a week-end show)
  10. Children—Hope for Tomorrow 9”x12” Quilt Exhibit: You will receive 40-60 or more 9”x12” children themed quilts. Easy to display with 4” sleeve to run a rod through and ½” drapery ring through which to pin into wall or draped racks. ($100 + Shipping)
  11. Tell me a Story of Oklahoma—Children’s Program—Digging Up Our History: This story-telling educational program teaches history through the courageous eyes of our pioneer women and includes a display of quilts made by children and adults. (20-45 minutes)
  12. Preserving Your Family Heritage Program: Great for genealogy enthusiasts, this creative writing workshop helps you organize your family stories and present them in a readable format that will entertain generations to come as it preserves your valuable family heritage and resources to help you publish it. (30-60 minutes)
  13. Preserving Your Family Heirlooms Program: Judy will give tips on how best to clean, store, preserve and decorate with your family heirlooms. Can be combined with any of the above programs. (30-60 minutes)
  14. Centennial Stitches—Oklahoma History in Quilts Exhibit of twenty antique quilts with vintage family photos, wedding certificates and Homestead Certificates. Stories are featured in Judy’s books. (Rental is $200/week-end show)
  15. Civil War Quilts Exhibit of twenty C1860s quilts with vintage family photos and heart-warming stories. (Rental is $200/week-end show
  16. Children’s New Beginnings: Pursuing and Achieving the Impossible Dream: God has gifted each person of every race, religion, creed or culture with unique talents and has a distinctive plan for each person. Judy’s personal story of overcoming insurmountable obstacles will inspire you to pursue your dream in order to become all that God created you to be. (For children or adults, 30-60 minutes)
  17. Historic Quilts of America Power Point Program: An educational and breath-taking power point display of historic antique quilts from Judy’s collection of 35 years and museums across the nation. (30-120 minutes)
  18. Children or Adult’s Creative Writing Workshop: Judy teaches writing techniques tailored for adult or children’s program and includes an actual writing exercise and reading. (30-60 minutes)
  19. Self-publishing for Dummies: Judy discusses the challenges, obstacles, rewards and valuable tips from her personal experience of self-publishing five historical non-fiction books. (30-60 minutes)
  20. Block Buster Book Sales on a Shoe-String: Judy gives valuable pointers in what works and what doesn’t in selling books. (30-60 minutes)
  21. Be Your Own Book Publicist and save $10,000/month: Having sold 5000 of her first book in seven months, Judy shares her tips on marketing and merchandising, selling, distribution, shipping and publicizing.
